- Registration Information; Permissions and Termination
- We collect and process the personal information provided by you at registration as well as such information further provided by you or third parties during the use of the Application.
- All your information is available to the Users to the extent you have not amended the privacy features in your Discovery Preferences. You information might also be available to the general public if you have shared that information through other platforms outside the Application (e.g. Facebook). You can always amend the setting of the information you share under Discovery Preferences.
- After termination of your account for any reason, we are allowed to delete your information. Posts and comments, their content and other comparable content will remain within the Application to the extent necessary to preserve pursuant to applicable law, or it is related to active users’ conversations, or have been shared by other users during the time when your account was active. Unless prohibited by applicable law, such content can be removed individually on request. If you or us close your account, we may still retain certain information associated with your account for analytical purposes and recordkeeping integrity, as well as to prevent fraud, enforce our Terms, take actions we deem necessary to protect the integrity of our Application or our users, or take other actions otherwise permitted by law. In addition, if certain information has already been provided to third parties as described in this Privacy Policy, retention of that information will be subject to those third parties' policies.
- Registration with Third-Party Authentication Services
- The Application uses third-party authentication services (each, an "Authentication Service") for account registration and credentialing purposes.
- A prerequisite for the third authentication is that Users are registered with the respective third-party service and enter the required credentials. The authentication will be handled by our server, the actual application process will be performed directly by the third party.
- Within the scope of the authentication process we receive a user ID with the information that the user is logged under this user ID. We also receive a user handle which is an user ID that is only suitable for authentication purposes. Other data we receive depends on the used authentication service and the user's chosen permissions. Usually this is the username and the email address. In the case of Facebook, the accessible data encompasses the so-called "public information" which everyone can see. These include your name, gender, username, user ID (account number), profile picture, cover photo and networks (if you choose to add these).
- Your third-party password is neither visible to us nor will it be stored by us.
- Please note that your data may be synchronized with the third-party Authentication Service's data but such sync is not guaranteed, especially in events such as changes to your email address.
- If you want to disconnect the link between the third-party Authentication Service and the Application, you may cancel this connection within your user account at the third-party.
- Users are advised to consider that in the context of the use of third-party Authentication Services in addition to our Terms and this Privacy Policy, the terms of use and data usage policies of the third-party may apply.
- Location Data
- To the extent we make within the Application location-enabled services available and you use such services, we may collect and process your location data. With your consent, we may collect information about your precise location using methods that include GPS, wireless networks, cell towers, Wi-Fi access points, and other sensors, such as gyroscopes, accelerometers, and compasses.
- The location data is processed and stored only for the duration that is required for the provision of the location-related services.
- You will be asked for permission before we access your location data and you may turn the location features off any time, which might, however, reduce the Applications functionability. In such case we will point it out to you.
- Information Sharing
- The Application allows Users to meet other Users and, in that sense, requires exchange of information, for instance information about specific locations or events. For this purpose, we use your information to conduct comparisons of Users’ information with each other (so-called Match-seeking) and provide it to other Users. For example, you may be shown the profile, preferences, pictures, locations and destinations of other Users either when you are conducting a search or as suggestions from the Application. This information can be obtained by means of the Application itself (e.g. through entries you or through functions that determine your location). Furthermore, this information can also be obtained from other sources (e.g. social networks) as long as you have agreed to the exchange of information.
- If you use the Application to find out about specific places, local, cultural or commercial offers (e.g. hotels, events, restaurants, museums), we may inform you of such places or offers also by way of user messages within the Application, e-mails or push messages.
- We may also use your information as a basis for communicating and presenting you interest-related or location-based third-party information (e.g. concerning hotels, events, special promotions such as discounts, tickets, etc.).
- We may share information, including personal information, with third parties that perform certain services on our behalf. These services may include fulfilling orders, providing customer service and marketing assistance, performing business and sales analysis, ad tracking and analytics, member screenings, supporting our Application functionality, and supporting contests, sweepstakes, surveys and other features offered through our Application. These service providers may have access to personal information needed to perform their functions but are not permitted to share or use such information for any other purposes.
- When you register on our Application or click-through our advertisements offered on third party websites or applications, we may share personal information with the businesses with which we partner to offer you the applicable products, services or any advertisements. When you elect to engage in a particular merchant's offer or program, you authorize us to provide your email address and other necessary information to that merchant. To opt-out of cookies that may be set by certain third party data, please visit: www.networkadvertising.org/optout_nonppii.asp (NAI) and www.aboutads.info/choices (DAA).
- We may share information with entities within our corporate structure and affiliated companies.
- We also may disclose your information, including personal information (i) in response to a subpoena or similar investigative demand, a court order, or a request for cooperation from a law enforcement or other government agency; to establish or exercise our legal rights; to defend against legal claims; or as otherwise required by law. In such cases, we may raise or waive any legal objection or right available to us; (ii) when we believe disclosure is appropriate in connection with efforts to investigate, prevent, or take other action regarding illegal activity, suspected fraud or other wrongdoing; to protect and defend the rights, property or safety of our company, our Users, our employees, or others; to comply with applicable law or cooperate with law enforcement; or to enforce our Terms or other agreements or policies; or (iii) in connection with a substantial corporate transaction, such as the sale of our business, a divestiture, merger, consolidation, or asset sale, or in the unlikely event of bankruptcy.
- Cookies, Analytics, Advertising Services provided by others and Similar Features
- We use various technologies to collect information from your device and about your activities on our Application.
- We automatically collect information from your browser or device when you visit our Application. This information could include your IP address, device ID, your browser type and language, access times, the content of any undeleted cookies that your browser previously accepted from us, and the referring website address.
- Cookies are small files, which make it possible to save information regarding the device onto the receiving device of the user (for instance PC, smartphone). On the one hand, they function to increase user-friendliness of websites and therefore are serving the user (for instance saving log-in data). On the other hand, they capture statistical data of the website usage in order to analyze possibilities of improving the provided service. When you visit our Application, we may assign your device one or more cookies, facilitate access to our site and to personalize your online experience. Through the use of a cookie, we also may automatically collect information about your online activity on our site, such as the web pages you visit, the time and date of your visits, the links you click, and the searches you conduct on our site. During your visits to other websites where we advertise, we (or third parties) may use certain data collected on our site to show you the type of Peekya advertisements likely to be of greater interest to you.
- Although you may not opt out of receiving online advertisements generally, you may control the collection of data on our site used for targeted Peekya advertising during your visits to other websites. Most browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can usually modify your browser setting to decline cookies. Also, your mobile operating system may let you opt-out from having your information collected or used for interest-based advertising on mobile devices. You should refer to the instructions provided by your mobile device’s manufacturer. If you choose to decline cookies, please note that you may not be able to sign in or use some of the interactive features offered on our Application.
- We may also use standard Internet technology, such as web beacons and other similar technologies, to track your use of our site.
- Web beacons (also known as clear gifs, pixel tags or web bugs) are tiny graphics with a unique identifier, similar in function to cookies, and are used to track the online movements of web users or to access cookies. Unlike cookies which are stored on the user's computer hard drive, web beacons are embedded invisibly on the web pages (or in email).
- Web beacons may be used to deliver or communicate with cookies, to count users who have visited certain pages and to understand usage patterns. We also may receive an anonymous identification number if you come to our site from an online advertisement displayed on a third-party website. Third parties may use anonymous information about your visits to our site and other websites in order to improve its products and services and provide advertisements about goods and services of interest to you.
- We also may include web beacons in advertisements or email messages to determine whether messages have been opened and acted upon. The information we obtain in this manner enables us to customize the services we offer our Application or mobile visitors to deliver targeted advertisements and to measure the overall effectiveness of our online advertising, content, programming or other activities.
